Has anyone used synthetic transmission fluid in a T150? Are there any opinions either way? Currently she has about 86K miles.

Unless you are in extreme conditions (extreme heat or cold) I'd use exactly what is recommended. I've found some synthetic oils can create shifting issues in transmissions that do not call for them. Seems they don't allow the blocking rings to grab onto the cone of the gear properly and grinding or hard shifting is the result. I've experienced it first hand.
    Just use the recommended oil.

Would Phoenix, AZ qualify as extreme heat? Road temps can get to well over 120 in the summer.

Not sure how closely the T150 resembles the T15, but I just changed my fluid to Penzoil Syncromesh. I was having trouble getting into low 4, or more like it would go it but not engage the front. I also had issues with second gear syncros. The trans was just rebuilt by the previous owner about a year ago with less than 500 miles on it. The fluid in there was thick but I couldnt tell you what it was. It was clean, like new condition. I used to use it in my Triumph TR8, and it worked great so I gave it a try. It is safe for the brass syncros too.

Now with this syncromesh it shifts perfect and goes into 4wd low without issue. I figured if nothing else it would give it a good flush, but I like it.

In AZ with those temps and sand, I would use synthetic transmission fluid. Use it in sandland for some of our rigs (130 degrees), helps reduce some issues. Here in GA, not so much.

one nice thing is if it ran out of oil there is still protection (just not as much)
I run lucas in most of the old stuff I got, smooths out engines and gives the added protection for the what ifs. Some of the ag places I worked would not even think of not putting it in. There opinion was if it runs out, fine but with the extra protection its easier to rebuild then the parts all welded together.

For the record Lucas save our explorer, wife lost the oil pressure sensor and drove 14 mile home without oil. Rattle worse than a snake and etc, put a quote of Lucas per 5 qts of oil and not we are 50k miles later. You tell me the its not worth the money.

There was no GL4 spec synthetic. I read on numerous forums and numerous tech bulitins that a GL5 spec will ruin the syncros. That was my main reason for choosing the syncromesh because it specifically said "compatible with yellow metals". Nothing else had that claim on the bottle.

I usually run nothing but synthetic in anything. Both diffs and the engine have synthetic in them, but from all the reading and research I did, I wanted to find something that had the "yellow metals" claim on the bottle.

Usually I am one to read a couple things on the internet and do what I was gonna do anyway. But there was so much written about this subject all over that I took the advise. I couldnt be happier with the results.

Just plain old gear oil here. its lasted 30 years with whats in it now no real reason to switch to synthetic. im leary of running lucas in anything, under spcific conditions it hampers proper splash lubrcation.
