fuel line routing

    without a working fuel gage i run out of fuel often with the stock fuel line route it takes awhile to prime the carb. i currently have an under seat tank.i was thinking it might take less time to prime if the line ran from the tank straight down the frame rail to the pump what would be the cons of this setup?
