Where are you guys getting new pistons for the 225's? Or are boring up and using 231's. Need to rebuild mine this winter.

Napa, Autozone, Advance auto any of these places should have pistons. I bought my whole kit from Autozone about 5 years ago. They have since cancelled the kit but the last I looked they still stocked all the parts, just individually.

The pistons for the 225 are the same as the 231, and 350. They ran all the blocks on the same line.

If you have a good machine shop near you, when you bring in your block, for machine work ask them what all you should bring. The machine shop, or atleast the one I used will order the pistons, along with a master rebuild kit for your engine (included everything that will normally wear).

I had my 231 done I had the block dipped (cleaned), new freeze plugs, cam bearings, bored, honed, rods resized, crank shaft rebuilt and ground, one new push rod for around $750. I had my heads done at another shop at the tune of $500 (which I thought was high), so be prepared for the cost.

Any questions you can always send me a PM.

No. The 225/340 shared pistons. The 231/350 shared pistons.

The OP is correct that a 231 has a larger bore than a 225.

The 225 was bored larger to match the 350 after GM bought it back from AMC.
