Hi guys, i've been lurking around for a good while now and want to first off say thanks for all the help all of these posts have been, there is a huge amount of collective knowledge here.

I have a 62 CJ5, F-134, T90, T18, Ramsey PTO (single stick) and Ramsey KX-200R winch. I'm lubing it up and checking everything for the upcoming cool weather offroading season.

Now, I know Jeeps leak (except for one individual on the board with another white CJ that swears his garage floor is drip free :toetap: ), but tonight when I filled my winch (couldn't drain it, lower bolt is seized up, will need to spray some CLP on it to loosen it up before I try again since I was pulling the jeep and it still wasn't breaking loose), anyway, when I filled the winch case with 80W-90 gear oil, it immediately started leaking out from the input shaft from the PTO, not pouring out, but a constant drip every 2 seconds. My question is does it just need heavier gear oil, or does it actually take grease? I wouldn't think grease since there is a drain plug, but I suppose its possible. Has the seal at the input just failed and need replacing, if so, where would I find one? I haven't had luck finding much of anything for it, and when I've emailed Ramsey in the past, they haven't even responded.

Here are a few pics in the meantime, thanks in advance.

This week i'm also getting my radiator back from being cleaned out and a leak at the seam of the lower endtank repaired, getting a new winch cable (150ft of 5/16" from agrisupply.com, cheapest place I found BY FAR, $.30/ft) and if timing permits, some new Interco Super Swampers in L78-15LT. I also swapped out the shocks for some new OE style Gabriel units since the old ones were completely dead, no rebound whatsoever. Now if I could keep this darn gas gauge working...

I don't know if you're referring to me, but currently, my Jeep only seeps from the rear main seal; not enough to drip on the floor....;)

That's a really clean looking Jeep you have there!

    You got me!

After I get back from this weekends trips, its getting a thorough bath in castrol super clean on the block and the trans/transfer case as well as the axles to locate the source of any leaks, then i'll be back for sources on gaskets for those as well!

It's supposed to be oil. Ramsey still builds versions of these winches and has manuals on-line, see here-

    http://users.eastlink.ca/~howarde/Ramsey Winch_2.html

Check out the "ramsey store" tab on the Ramsey link at the bottom, you should be able to order the parts, after looking in th on-line parts manaul I found the oil seal as p/n486009, it's $8.66 in the "store" section.

for bearings & seals if you cant find them anywhere else try applied industrial technoliges, a good bearing and seal guy can match up something with just the measurements, back when i had a worm gear winch, i thought about using lucas, they say you can use it full strength in rearends, and manual transmissions (that is their claim, not mine)

We like the pictures! Nice Jeep too.
Where is the trail in the first picture? Looks like somewhere in SoCal.

Howards link is not working, can someone post the working one? Or tell me where else to look for the oil type, seals and gaskets for my mx-200r?

First off...can you get the set screw and u-joint off the worm gear shaft? If you can't, finding the seal is the least of your worries. If your's is like mine, I had to take apart the whole drum to get at that seal. It took a machine shop to cut off the old u-joint so I could rebuild it. I had to take them the drive line attached to the joint attached to the worm gear....about 6 feet of headache. I have a bearing service supply company here, so finding seals is no problem. If that joint won't come off, don't hit it too hard with a hammer because its all brass up in there.
