Will the bellhousing on my 225 bolt to a buick 350 and work correctly? I know my t-86 won't hold up behind a buick 350, but I would like to use my 225 bellhousing since the motor I'm looking at doesn't have one, and then I would use an adapted t-18 to bolt to the bellhousing. Thanks.

Didn't think about it before, but just did now. Since the buick 350 is mated to a 400 auto tranny, I will need to use my 225 bellhousing, but I will also need a flywheel for the rig, huh. Since the current combo has the th400 auto, it will have a flexplate instead and won't work for a manual tranny swap, will it? Should I just run the 400? Seems like it will be too long for its overall length plus the adapter to the dana 18 and everything, leaving too short of a rear driveline. Am I wrong? I would like to eventually go spring over axle with waggy axles, too, so a shorter drivetrain would be better to help future driveline angle. So, I will need to find a flywheel for the 350, right, or will my 225 flywheel work (I figured it wouldn't since it's oddfire)? And should I run t-18 for drivetrain length, or just use the th400 and it'll be okay?

And thanks for the quick first answer, Patrick.

Yes. Flexplate for the Buick 350. The flywheel/flexplate provides external balancing, and the 225 and 350 are very different in that respect.

You may have to search a little to find a Buick 350 flywheel. Jeep wagons/trucks and stick Buicks (not many, comparatively) are the only sources. Not sure the 225 flywheel will even bolt to the V8, but if it will, you could have it rebalanced.

This is a CJ-5? There's been some discussion of this previously. The TH400 is long compared to teh T-18, but apparently it will fit if you scoot the engine forward. Not so much opportunity for this with the V8, however, and you lose one of the appealing parts of the Buick swap; ie, that you can leave the frame towers in place.
