My wife like the black front. I wanted to paint the black under the blue to make it deeper, but after the base looked we decided to go with the black front, to match the black w/s and top.

Here is my question. How long should I wait to buff clear? It was a little chilled when it went on (55-65*) and older products. It looks good and I just want to make sure I give it enough time.

The job was done last weekend when it go warm and no rain. (odd we really saw the sun, been a long while sense we have seen it.) Finish work took two days worth of sanding and filling cracks with light bondo. The hood is a one piece without any holes cut. I can tell you if you can buy it with the holes already cut out, do it! Once I gave up on making it perfect we painted. Started with a etching primer on the front. I know most painters say you don't need it with the gel coat, but I just wanted to make sure it was on the front. (bugs, rocks, etc) The I decided that black front under the top coat would make the front deeper. I have done this before on other projects and like it. The blue would have looked more purple on the front. But after I showed my wife we decided it would look great with the black front. So the blue went on and then the black again. I use Martin Senor's Cross Fire line. The colors are the Cross Fire line's Custom Blue Metallic, and Black Metallic. I use a Cobalt HVLP Sharpe gun on the big stuff with I think the 1.8 tip, on the front and little stuff I have a cheapy touch up gun. I have used the Sharpe gun a lot and fell that it works great. The gun also does a good job of spray pattern without me having to make fine tune adjustments. I spray at 2 bars or about 26-30 psi. I have always felt that if you are going to buy something to use, spend the money once and get the best line. If you are going to play with it, buy a cheaper tool. I have sprayed enough to get an idea of how it do it, which took a disaster, anther disaster, a half ok, ok, looked good a 10feet, and now pretty good for a novice. If you are wanting to start painting, buy old refrigerators and give them "custom" jobs and sell to the college crowd. This way it will give you experience that I learned on my DDs, and you don't have to hold your head down when you have to drive some where.
