allright. What I'm doing is converting a windshield frame from above glass wipers to the lower wipers. the one with the motor on the outside and the cover that goes over the motor.

I have everything figured out on the outside of the frame. motor, pivots, somewhatweathertite cover...

What I NEED to know is the access holes on the frame as seen from the INSIDE of the jeep.

I have the 2 holes drilled for the 2 pivots, but the old frame I was using as a template was rusted out too badly by the motor to figure out what kind of access is on the left side of the frame to access the motor's linkage.

    Is this hole the same 1 1/2" - 1 3/4" for the 2 pivots?

I know the 2 pivots had a rubber gromlet to close them off. Does the motor access hole have the same gromlet?

My windsheild has 3 hles on the inside about 1 1/2 dia each and in direct line with the motor shaft and the pivots. The linkag I had to remove through the defrostar holes could not get out through the holes on the face of panel.

    This is a 1970 CJ6

just curious, is there enough vertical surface for the lower wiper motor to fit on the earlier frame?

As far as I know, the later (lower mounted motor) windshield frame had the glass mounted higher in the frame, making less room above the glass. I always figured that this design moved the lower edge of the glass up, to make room for the bottom mounted motor.

if you can get me a pic that would be great8)

    Jeeppower,

There were a couple different setups between 67 and 70.

When they went to lower wipers they first used the normal windshields with short glass. Then after half year? to a year? don't know exactly when but they got rid of the standoff hoops on the top and raised the glass.

This linkage mounts in the bottom defroster section of the windshield with the motor mounted on the outside of the frame.

Looking at the windshield frame from inside the vehicle starting from the driver's side outside edge of the windshield frame:

Wiring hole is 4 1/4" from outside edge of frame to center of hole and 1 3/4" from inside bottom edge of frame where it kind of goes over the upper edge of the dash.

First access hole is 7 1/8" from w/s frame outside edge to center of hole and 2 1/16" from bottom edge of frame.

2nd access hole is 9 1/2" from center of first hole to center of second hole and 2 1/16" from bottom of w/s frame.

3rd and last access hole is 26" from center of second hole to center of 3rd hole and again 2 1/16" from bottom of frame.

Sorry but I forgot to measure the diameter of the holes. which I can do if needed.

The wiper pivot hole dimensions I can get as well if needed. Let me know. Nick

    Thanks Nick

The access holes should be 1 1/2".

I guess I'll find some grommlets for the wire harness and drill a hole to fit those...
