66 cj5 hard top

    Hi guys, I have the chance to pick up a real nice hard top off a 1966 CJ5. It is in great shape with all doors and windows. I want to use it on a 1980 CJ5. Before I drive to PA. to pick it up I would really like to know that it will fit. Is the tub on the 66 and the 80 close enough to use this cab?

    Hardtops and soft tops for CJ5s fit from 55-75 and 76-83, the windshield frames are different. Some people put the later model windshield frames on the early and intermediate CJs, but I have never heard of someone putting an early windshield frame on a late CJ.

    does your 80 have a lip around the tub like the earlier models do? also i think the tailgate is different and the windshield is definatly different. Not sure about the overall dimentions. I guarantee its not going to bolt right on

    Dang, I guess that answers that. I might still go get it because it is really nice but it doesn't sound like the windshield is something I will try to work around. Thanks for the info.
