Is there a source for the metal VIN tag on '71 and earlier Kaiser Jeeps?

Can you be more specific? I've looked as well but have never found one for a '55-'71 CJ-5, I don't see one listed on the page you linked to. :?

This might work, but it's not a direct replacement and if it's inspected and checked against a book with illustration it might not fly.

There's no way the tags said "Willys" up until 1971 for one thing. The CJ-5 tags (at least my '62 and '64 didn't/don't) have the black ink on them either, just an aluminium tag. Not to mention that the overall description says for vehicles up to '64 then the vehicles listed include up to '71 CJ-5s?

'71 and Earlier Kaiser Jeeps have "Kaiser Jeep Corp" stamped on them. I've yet to find a repro...

Sparky, mine is a '64 so I used the one you linked to:

but you are correct, it's may not be period correct for all years.

I don't think it's period correct for any CJ-5, best I can recall.

It doesn't look like my '64's tag. Looks more like my '60 Willys truck's tag did.

Do you have a picture of your '64 tag? Mine was missing when I got the jeep, so I have no idea what it should look like.

Yeah, I'll get one up later.

It's got the VIN tag and the "Willys made by Kaiser" on the passenger side as well.

Never have seen a resource for a repro tag, but here's what the FSM has to say/ show. It's not the same as the one on my '71...

And here's an actual VIN Tag from a '71 CJ-5 I parted out a few years ago (just a bit larger for clarity R) )...

That's exactly the same as my '70 tag except that it includes Kaiser just before the lower "Jeep Corporation".
