Well I've been token on the crack pipe and I have a new project in mind. I am looking for some pics of a frame stretch. I did a search and most of the old pics are gone since the crash. I think I know how I want to do it but i want to see how others have done theirs.
Also if anyone has any links that would be helpfull.
    Thanks Steve

I found a donor CJ frame and cut the front frame horns off at the crossmember. I then cut my existing frame horns just behind the bulge for the bumper mounts and welded on the new frame horns. I netted 6 1/2" from that. In the rear I made and welded a new bumper to the frame, eliminating the stock stamped crossmember, and welded the new shackle hangers to the bumper instead of the frame. I was able to go from 81" to a 95" wheelbase with this, using Wrangler springs. You could squeeze a little more length by using stock length Early CJ springs, but you wouldn't get the nice ride of the YJ springs. I'm using the front clip from a '73 to help keep the front wheels somewhat centered in the wheelwells.

You looking to stretch the front, rear, cut the middle and stretch the body. I am at 90" WB with no frame stretch and stock fuel tank. I did and will still consider stretching mine in the middle one day if I get a good deal on a cj6 tub.

But after my 1 ton commando project, I've learned that if I was gonna stretch the frame and want a good platform to build from, i'd just build a new frame. You could get by with 1/8" tubing and fishplates, but 3/16ths will never have you wondering if it'll brake.'

Front stretch and rear stretch would be easy enough to cut and fishplate.
What kind of WB you want?

The stretch would actually be a splice by cutting one frame and splicing in another to create a longer wheelbase the splice would be just under the front seat. I am looking to build something unusual using the many parts I have accumulated and try not to buy to much extra.

I have read and read and read about stretching frames. With these little jeeps its so much easier just to build a new frame. You will know its strong. You can build it which ever way you want it done, instead of dealing with 50 yr old steel thats probably weak now.

This kind of defeats the purpose of using the parts that I already have and building it with less $$.

Have to agree with this, enough 2x3 or 2x4 box tube to build a frame can be had for under $200, much stronger and won't have as much problem cracking out the frame or body.

You also didn't say how far you want to stretch and are you stretching the body too? or just comp cut and use long fender front?

I've been watching this build, new 2x4 frame under a MB, 89ish wheelbase.

This is more of a repair but did stretch it about 3".

If you're going to use two frame, "Z" cut one infront of the body mounts then the other to make whatever WB you want. Slap them back together with < > shaped support plates.

    Edit,
Ran across this, more of a Unlimited setup than 4 door but 2 bodies and 2 frames

first part is just axles but about 1/2 thru things get interesting.
