I have a strange problem with the single barrel Weber carb on my F-134 motor.
If I turn the key on it will start and run only long enough to use the fuel that is left in the carb bowl. After that it will not start unless I loosen the fuel fitting at the carb and bleed some fuel out. Then it starts right up. I've talked to the Weber people and they believe the problem is too much fuel pressure. The Weber only needs 2 lbs. The current fuel pump puts out 3.5 lbs. I'm looking for a small good quality regulator that I can mount on the fuel line near the carb fitting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The regulator I put on my old jeep truck around 10 years ago was one of those that has a dial on it, I think it is made by Purolator , and I got it at advance auto parts. I'm running a Weber on it and it is a progressive two barrel on a chevy 250 straight six. I have the regulator set at 1 1/2 pounds and it works great.

I bought a Holley from Summit for my 47. They have about 4 listed I think, so you pick the one with the pressure range you are looking for.

I've got a holley one on my CJ. Works great, but you need a pressure gauge to be sure you have it set right.

I had installed a Spectre Performance Prod. Fuel Pressure Regulator: Chrome Part Number: 2517 (essentially the same as a Purolator) on my jeep a few years back. It worked fantastic! I put my Jeep down for a resto and I installed this fuel pressure regulator onto my Suburban, 454 V8, Edelbrock 1406 4 bbl, it worked great as that it eliminated the carb loading of the fuel. BUT, while starting my Suburban one day after work, I smelled fuel. I shut it down popped the hood, and found fuel leaking from aroung the gasket that goes between the clam shell bodies. I like these little universal units, but I would keep an eye on the gasket, especially if this little unit has seen some down time and dried out.

Thank you for your replies and advice. I ordered the Holley unit for pressures between 1-4 lbs for $33. The factory setting is for 2.7 lbs. I'll start with that and adjust if needed. Can't wait to get it so I don't have to keep bleeding the fuel line every time I have to start when cold. I'll let you know how it works out.
