I looked at a '75 today and dont know much about the Intermediate CJ5's. But the thing that caught my eye was the 4-speed trans and the sheetmetal on the floor that looked like early CJ5 T-98.
There is a bolt on "inspection plate" on the drivers side bottom of the trans like a T98 but in researching it looks like the only '75 4-spd was a T14/T15.
The T14/T15 doesnt have the inspection plate.
The owner said it has never been modified and that 1st is very low.

What trans is in this jeep? It has a D20 transfer.

The close-ratio T-18 was offered in CJ-5s in 1975 with the inline 6s. It uses floor plates that are the same (or almost the same) as the T-98 offered with the F134.

This transmission is unique to the CJ-5 application, 1971-1976, AFAIK. It has different (closer) ratios than the T-18 pickup truck applications that have a 'granny' 1st gear, and none of the gears interchange.

It was also offered in 1972-73 Commandos with the inline 6s.

Thanks, I took your info and looked it up and now see the combo. My head was spinning when I first looked under there and saw what I thought was a T-98. I started dreaming about transplant into my '66.

Many of the early T-18's used old stock T-98 shifter tops that T-98 is cast into the top. Don't let that throw you as the T-98 top fits right on the earlier version of T-18 with no modifications.

THe t-18 is a great trans, even in close ration version. Of course, the close ratio is probably not worth the expense to adapt it into another application, but for an intermediate its a nice upgrade over the t-14/15.

I'd love to have one in my cj.
