My 1200 is equipped with the heat riser type automatic choke cover with the bi-metal spring inside.

All of the adjustment descriptions I can find refer to matching an index mark on the cover with index marks cast into the aluminum choke housing. I cannot see or find any obvious index mark on my choke cover. It appears to be completely smooth around the outside edge, and no paint marks.

The only possible index mark is a slot at the center of the cover where you'd stick a screwdriver to turn the cover. Is this the index mark that is referred to, or am I just missing a molded/painted mark on the outside edge?

    Thanks,

The cover should have a notch in the outer edge. Not very prominent.

I've never seen a cover with a screwdriver slot.

That's the best part about Jeeps...just when you thought you'd seen everything, something new comes along! I'll post a pic tomorrow of my mysterious auto choke cover with no notch and a screwdriver slot :?

If someone post a pic of the inside of the choke cover that shows the relationship between the bi-metal spring and the notch on the cover, that would be super-helpful. FYI - the pic should be taken with the cover at room temperature (approx. 72 deg. F)

    Thanks,

Ive seen aftermarket parts like that no notch...I usually just turn the cover till the choke closes and adjust from there for opening speed
