i swapped a late-YJ booster and M/C onto my 83 5 in place of the stock non-power set-up last year during my long-term build and it's finally drivable.
    problem is still no brakes.
all bled out, and moves good fluid as far as i can tell, but the pedal bottoms on the floor before it actually stops me...

i bench bled the MC again and still no improvement.

when i installed it i measured and compared the rod lengths and mounting surfaces and thought it was a good match... but now i'm second-guessing myself.
i'm thinking it has to do with the rod stroke... the rod goes in a full inch before it seems to contact anything inside the booster. maybe i need a longer pushrob?

this is the last thing keeping me from taking it to the exhaust shop and actually driving it before it's time to take it apart again for a 3rd winter of rebuilding..

    thanks!!!

the brakes were the hardest thing on my 57 chevy....most likley the rod is too short or the pedal is too long it must hit the curve behind the pedal? you used the old pedal right?

i am using the original CJ pedal assembly. from what i can tell the pushrod needs to be a bit longer. i cant remember if i used the YJ or CJ pushrod. i think it is the YJ part.
    thanks!!!

Where do you live? Seems to be pretty close to me. When I did my hydraulic clutch, I made an adjustable pushrod. Then I found out they sell one at napa. Don't know if that will help, but its nice to be able to dial it in perfect.

I swapped a yj power booster on my 57 and am extremley impressed with the stopping power. And I am only using 11 drums on the rear. The front discs aren't even hooked up yet.

adjustable huh? was it a Jeep part? or a universal? i was thinking about making one like that because it would be difficult to get the proper measurement with it all installed on the firewall without installing and removing everything several times... i am so ****ed that this didnt rear it's head before i installed the cage. now there is NO room to work under the dashboard. grrrr!!!

    ludlow huh? mere minutes away....

p/n 615-1187. I think they stock them at most napa's. Its for a clutch master tho, but I would think it work for brakes. My hydraulic clutch conversion was giving me all kinds of problems. The pedal would go to the floor without fully disengaging. I extended the push rod and now its perfect.
