I have searched with no luck for a roller fairlead for my Ramsey 8000lb PTO winch for my CJ5. I figure that I will just have to fabricate one. My question now is how were the rollers originally made? Did they turn on bearings or bushings or just turn on the pin that goes through the middle of the roller. Also, what is the diameter of the pins that are used in the middle of the rollers?

They had a pin (2"x 5/8 coarse thread bolt with 1" or so of the threads cut off and end turned down to 1/2" smooth. the rollers then have a 1 1/2" hole in the ends that this shaft goes into. Fairlead frame was cast.

So the rollers were solid steel except for the 1 1/2" deep holes drilled into each end? I assume the 5/8 threads on the end bolts threaded into the fairlead frame? What diameter were the rollers?

Ramsey still makes that winch and the roller that goes with it. Just looked at a brand new one the other day. I wrote the part # down but I can't find it now. Call them at 918-438-2760. Tell them you need a roller for a H-200 winch. THey should be able to put you onto a dealer near you or you can just google the part #. I found several doing it that way

I'm probably missing something here but why not just fab a mount that goes in front of the winch so you could use any fairlead?

The drum on the old PTO Ramsey winch is longer than on most other winches, 14 inches. If the fairlead is not as long as the drum it will make the cable pile up in the middle of the drum.
