I've been asked to give an appraisal on an early CJ with a Perkins diesel. Where can I find the production numbers and value for these vehicles?

My first CJ5 was originally equipped with the diesel and all the serial number ever indicated was "specially equipped", which could mean any number of things.

You can find documents like this on the CJ3B site:

    http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/serialnos/SerialNosSixties.html

But I've never seen anything specifically detailing either the production numbers of the Perkins - my experience has been that they are pretty rare. I've seen maybe 4-5 of them make an appearance on the web in my ~ 13 years of online Jeeping.

But while they are rare, they are rare in away that's cool, but not worth anything or much more than another Jeep of the same vintage and condition. The diesel may even be a downside for most potential buyers as engine parts won't be available through the normal suppliers.
