Dana 27, 30 gear swap?

    I getting back to planning my D-30 front axle swap but can't find anything about using the 5:38 gears from the D-27 in the 30. From the specs I've found, they appear to be the same diameter (7.25"). Do they interchange? How about the carriers? The narrow D-30 is from a '78 CJ, I think.

    I bought 4:88s when I was thinking about a 4.3 Chevy swap but now I'm thinking of keeping the F-head and the lower gear. What do you think? Will they interchange?

    The dana 27 gears will not swap into a dana 30.
