Spring Rebound Clips

So I noticed that my driver side front spring was missing one rebound clip...I think.

What I mean is, all the other springs, front and back, only have two rebound clips per spring pack. I'm not sure that's correct. Anyway, I need to replace at least one, and maybe more if I'm supposed to have more.

Does anyone know how many rebound clips per spring pack for the original 10 leaf springs? Pictures are always welcome.

 

My stock springs ahd 4 per spring pack but my Skyjacker Softrides have only two. I guess it depends on what brand of springs you have.

 

Well, this is a Renegade with the original 10 leaf springs. It looks like it *should* have 4 per spring, but there is nothing that indicates how many.

They aren't that expensive so I guess I can go ahead and order enough to get 4 per spring.

 

I cut my clips off. To free up articulation. I have more then 33" of wheel travel. I need longer shocks and brake lines. Should have more travel after that.

 

Another jeep that I help set up. Notice the gaps in the springs.

 

"Wow, those are some really, uh, long shackles..mehh " Temp fix. got to love autozone lift in a box.

 

I've read that the clips give the springs better strength by getting the leaves to support one another, and keep them from potentially slipping sideways.

I'm not building a rock crawler though, so articulation (or lack thereof) isn't a big concern at this point.

 

i say if there not slipping sideways its not a big deal. And if they are your u bolts probrobly arnt tight enough

 

It's the terrain, I believe. Angle of the camera is parallel to the Jeep, not to the surface.

 

They have spring clips that are desinged to allow the leaves to unload and seperate but keep them in ilignment on reload( damn that backspace rule)
I have them on both of my trucks.

nwedger, My jeep had the 10 leaf springs. I removed 4 from the front 5 from rear, rides a hole lot smoother. As for the clips you can use a hose clap as a clip. (redneck fix) The ubolts would keep the leaf springs from 'sliding out.' Along with the weight of the jeep. The springs are under load, there is a lot of force between the leafs them selfs.
