thanksgiving weekend, we will see, he said $300 for a weekend (about 250+ pulls). I will collect the "upgrades" like carbs, dizzys, and ignition, headder, cam and whatever else anyone wants to see if it works. Won't have enough time to test an TBI computer controlled set-up, that would take weeks on the dyno to figure out.

Since their is no real documentation of hopping up these motors and the # gains involved - only butt dyno results, I am taking it upon myself to do the task.

And if I fail, I got 4 other f-heads lined up in my shop to try again with!!

no, I need to find a donor one from a junkyard, or splurge and go with a mega squirt.

I was out of town again this week...was hoping to see the dyno figures when I got back. Looks like I have got to wait until Thanksgiving....As I recall wasn't there a high compression head available that was used in higher elevation areas? I've got an F head my brother did a refreshing on about 25 years ago and never installed. He painted it Ford Blue and Chevy orange, how many H.P. is that good for?

Even if the dyno reads 80ish HP out of this build, its still a 33% improvement over stock which is respectable by any measure.

I will be awaiting the dyno results as well. Ive read thru nine pages of 'yes it will, no it wont' and am anxious to see the hard numbers.

fully expecting 90 hp net when its all done. before the upgrades.

#s are saying higher, i don't think so too much. But if fun to put it out their and be optimistic!

NO, low gloss black my friend, sleeper.

    ----------------

the high compression head for altitude was 7.4:1 I got the standard 6.9 (might have been 7, don't have book on front of me) I now have ~7.9:1

orange is good for 10 hp off the bat! blue is 20!!

I would like to see either an F-head or L-head set up with a GM TBI.

I will be the first, need to look into and research much more on it, but it seems like all you have to do is swap ALL SENSORS over and make an adapter (CNC) and find a TBI system with a smiler sized engine with the same firing order and the computer should be able to program itself if its an OBDII.

Where are you going to put the knock sensor, CKP, CMP, MAP, IAT, etc.?
Is there an OBDII TBI system? How are you going to run just the fuel system with an OBDII PCM?

Just wondering how you're going to do this.

Since converting my 4.2 to MPI, I've been wanting to do fuel injection with the F-head. As stated-- it seems a TBI system will be the easiest t set up.

has anyone done this yet-- I'm sure there has to be something around here on it. I imagine that having EFI will also make a turbo/blower addition easier.

I would think and OBDII would be more trouble than its worth. GM also did not make very many OBDII TBI systems, they switch over to predominantly Multi Point/ Vortec injection in 96 along with the OBDII changover. OBDII systems also have provisions for pre and post cat O2 sensors. Without that you need to run a Post cat O2 simulator to keep the engine from throwing codes.

A simple pre-OBDII TBI from a 4 cylinder car would probably be your easiest option.
