A neighbour was over yesterday looking at my '75 CJ with most of the front fenders missing (rust). He said a friend of his had a '73 that he put YJ fenders on. They were apparently about 1" longer, but he drilled new holes, trimmed a bit off the inners, and they fit fine. Also used installed YJ flares that covered his 38's nicely.
Has anyone here seen this done?
I can pick up YJ fenders in "like new" cond for $50 each locally. Nearest set of CJ's are 500 miles away and need work. New ones are going to run $5-700 with shipping, broker fees, exchange and duty! (gotta love living in Canada)

My boss did that on his CJ-7. I think he switched to a YJ hood as well. The CJ grill was narrower than the YJ grill so spacers had to be fabbed. Probably not necessary if using the CJ hood but I'd take some careful measurements.

disclaimer: I have NOT done this myself and am simply going from memory of what my boss went through....

Jp mag did a 7 nose onto a yj story about 6 months ago. Might use that info in reverse.

    I've seen it.
I didn't care for the appearance.
If you don't mind the appearance, then it sounds like a practical solution for your situation.

There's a guy over on the Jeep Forum currently building a Jeep/truck called a Gaucho. He has YJ fenders on a CJ grill/hood during the mockup and has several pictures if you want to see how it looks. Works, but looks a little weird. Angles are all wrong.
