    Hi guys and gals

I have just got my hands on a 61 CJ 5 and am planing to

    1. Replace the engine with a 4.3L vortec (right now I have an old 4cly from a 71 Vega).
    2. Replace the transmission with a SM420 (It will mount right to the new engine but I will need to adapt to the T-case)
    3. Keep the Model 18.
    4. Replace stock suspension with an Old Man Emu lift for a YJ. I know rocky road makes an adaptor kit for 71 and newer CJ's what do I need to do to make this work with my 61?
    5. Replace these horible home made hangers.
    6. I'll keep the Dana 44 in the rear.
    7. I would like a beefier front axle. Hopfuly a 44 as well. What axles work well and what do I yank them from?
    8. Onboard air, tank, and reg.
    9. ARB lockers front and rear.
    10. Tube fenders, front and rear bumpers.
    11. Make a higher roll cage right now I smack my head at every bump.

But first I'm tearing her down and restoring the tub and frame.

    Thanks

    Thanks Greg.

Your build is going to be a great resource for me while i get down to work. Your right were almost local. I'll see about the BC Jeep Club as well.

Once I'm back home in august I'll be getting down to work. Like you I work away from home. But this time I'll have 2 months off. Im going to tear down and collect parts hope to have the tub and frame ready to go by september. I want the drive line in by the time I head back to work.

I'll make sure to post pics and let you all know what snags I hit on the way.
