Heres the plan. After using the tape measure and not being happy with a 12 inch driveshaft with the motor/trans that I wanted I decided to go with the SM420 and advanced adapter kit and D300( I alredy had these parts). The trans needs a couple parts and bearings and is in the garage being rebuilt as we speek (by me:?). I went on CL and found a wrecked chevy s10 with 300 miles on a rebuilt 4.3 TBI 5sp . I got it home and stripped the harness and all the necessary SMOG equipment . I have got the motor ,trans and Tcase together and located the motor mounts onto the frame and modified my TC mount to fit. Time to dissasemble and I get the trans parts Monday. WITH this settup I will have a 17 1/2 inch rear shaft and will probably go with a CV setup. I will keep you posted...

I hope to get the trans parts today and assemble it. I am also going to try to find fittings for the power steering pump and box so I can use wheatherhead hose. I will be taking the radiator in and haveng the ports relocated to accept the stock S10 hoses.

All is going well. I rebuilt the trans and installed the motor trans and transfer case into my jeep. I had to notch the floor a bit to accept the trany shifter.
I did find fittings in a speedway parts catalog that should fit my steering box and pump so I can make my own hose. Radiator is being worked on to accept the S10 hoses at a local shop. Today I am making a new battery box and making the cluch linkage. I bought a power brake booster setup on the clasifieds on this site and will try to install it today as well. I also purchased a 1" poly body lift kit. It looks like a nice kit, you remove the OEM rubber body mounts and install these in their place.

Yesterday went well. SHE RUNS!! The fuel system is not hooked up yet but I dribbled a little gas into the throttle body and turned the key and she LIT up. SWEET. I installed the brake booster set up but will need brake line adapters to finnish. I have a YJ master cyl and the CJ has different fittings.

Power brakes installed (not bled yet). Recieved the fittings for the ps hose today. I keep putting off the fuel system because the way I want to do it wont be simple!! I am going to put the S10 pump and sump into my CJ tank. so that will take some time to modify my tank and pump assymbely.

I started looking at the brakes and they were stuck from sitting for 10 years, so I decided to replace the calipers, cylinders and pads. Its a good thing because the pads were shot and the rear axle seals were leaking. I have the front done and am cleaning up the rear mess and will work on that today. Power stearing hose is complete and ready for oil. I installed some OEM shackles from a wrangler in the front for a little more tire clearance and it lifted the front an inch. I just have shackles in the rear and I will be doing a spring over in the rear and putting stock shackles on instead. While doing the spring over I will rotate it for a CV shaft.

OK, Im waist deep into the FUEL system. I have the top of the S10 tank cut out where the pump fits into and I cut a hole about 6" x 9" in the JEEP tank so that the S10 pump plastic pump sump can fit into the hole. I cut and fit the S10 piece to fit snug over the 6 x 9 hole. The bottom of the JEEP tank had a round hump that was in the way so I cut it out and made a plate to cover it. The tank was then sent to a TIG welder and has been completed and looks GREAT. Today I will be reinforcing the rear of the frame so I can put the tank in and plumb it (after I shorten the fuel pump assy.).....

Fuel pump and tank are COMPLETE!! Today I will lift the body off the frame a few inches and install the tank and begin to plumb the lines. I am also still working on the 1/2" plate for the rear (bumper/frame) reinforcement.

Fuel tank is in the jeep and I have started fitting the fuel lines... The rear bumper/crossmember is reinforced with 1/2 inch plate.

I will take some. I wasnt sure anybody was watching. I am working on the fuel lines now. I am going to have #6 AN fittings TIG welded into the factory S10 hard lines so I can use pushlock lines and fittings between the tank and throttle body.

Fuel lines all fabbed up and are installed. She runs now but the fuel pump wont run without being jumped to the battery so I need to fgure out whats wrong with it. Working on cleaning up the wirring today and getting a CV yoke and putting it on so I can measure the shafts and then I will call TOM WOODS and place an order......

GM TBI fuel pump ran through an oil pressure switch or relay controlled by the oil pressure switch. Had an oil pressure switch cutting out could hear the relay chatter as a result, but it ran, sometimes. Hope you find your problem.
