Found a fiberglass tub on ebay with 2 fiberglass fenders this week, guy wanted $1700.00. Wife and I drove down today to check it out, had no intention of payint $1700. I did purchase the tub and fenders and guy threw in a set of brand new mirrors, still in box. I have a few pics for you fellows to critique. I realize I did not get a "bargain" but tub seems to be very heavy duty and has never had any holes drilled in it or been mounted. Ok so here it is I paid $1000. What do you guys think? Did I get a fair deal or get robbed?:?
Also I am putting on my 1973 CJ5, I measured everything and all seems same as the metal tub I have. Any advice or comments are openly welcome!

Hopefully, it's a decent brand of tub. If so, you got a great deal!

Nice. Look inside the tub above the double layer drivers side foot well. Just in front of door openening. Black spot in first pic. Some of the mfgs glass in their name and a ser# there.
Get that in Miami? There was one there until a couple days ago on CL.
With those feners it should work on a 73. Use enamal paint. Glass flexes too much for lacquer, it cracks the paint. Mine had some very fine crack where the cowling meets the fender.

Depending on how nice you want the paint job to be, you may, or may not want to sand the parts. Fiberglass body parts are NOT SMOOTH.

My fiberglass tub/1-piece tilt nose was bought, assembled, and painted, by the PO. It has a ton of ripples, and it's BLACK to boot!! Black is the worse for showing defects!

Someday, I will apply a guide coat, sand, and repaint ( a different color). It will be a time consuming job, though.

If you're just going to wheel the jeep, you might not care.
