Hood and Windshield Hardware 67

I have a 67 cj5 and wondering if anyone can supply me with some pics of factory configured hood and outside windsheild hardware.

I know mine is all goofed up. I saw a jeep that had guards over the top mount winshield wipers which explains the holes up there. I am guessing my hood is not the original because it has a loop near the front of the hood and that's it. I want to figure out what all belongs where so I can fold down my windshield and enjoy the breeze on the trails. Currently I have a latch type thing on the outer middle winshield frame that looks like it should latch to my hood somewhere but alas nothing on my hood to attach too.

Whoa! This takes me back a bit. As I remember, there were two guards on the windshield that the hood rubbed against when it was open. There was a latch on the windshield that could hook the hood open using one of the hood loops, if I remember correctly. There was a loop on the hood to strap the windshield down if you were driving with it down on the hood. (Ah, that may have been what the wiper guards were for).

Sorry I don't remember better. In '69' I abandoned all of that and put on a '69' windshield with the lower windshield wipers. I had a 'ventilating' windshield as well, but I much preferred the '69' windshield as it had much higher glass and I could see out easier.

Patrick there's something wrong with that Jeep, I don't see any rust, not even a little surface rust! Darn NM Jeepers!R)

BTW, those aren't "guards" over the W/S wipers per se. They are rests for the W/S when it's folded down.

Thanks Patrick! Those pics clear things up. Now I know what those "extra" holes in my windshield frame are for.

Chill dude, I read your post a few times and still somehow still missed the "pics" part initially.

It's not a big deal, we fix our mistakes around here, no need to make a big deal of it.

Sorry Adam, didn't mean to make a thing of it. Thought maybe I did something wrong but couldn't figure out what. Peace :)

I recently bought two of the wiper guard/hood rest brackets from Harry Sheets.
The ones I got were NOS, olive drab paint, with fabric protector attached. I don't remember the cost, contact him for price.

His contact info can be found here:

They have sort of a canvas material. Walck's carries a kit for it, Krage probably does too.

i've seen places call them welt or welting. it looks like the same material used between the grill and hood.
