    We have these at the armory on base and they use some type of "dry solvent".. I don't really know what it is but it cleans weapons pretty well.

    Something I found on another board (Southern Jeeps) and have used:
    A solution of equal parts of Kerosene, Mineral Spirits, Denatured Alcohol and Red Transmission fluid and lanolin if you can find it.
    Works great.

    I go to a local petroleum supply place and get Stoddard Solvent. Some folks think it's the same thing as mineral spirits, but it's not IMO. Works better and stinks less. Ain't cheap though, but having a parts washer is a wonderful thing.
