It obviously flexs good without the spring clamps but is there any downsides to it? Im thinking I would like to do that to mine but not sure?

 

I've heard by not running the clamps, you could bend a leaf if she drops too much. But im not sure. I know running clamps too tight will bend a main leaf. And did you stretch the frame in the front?

 

I Split it. Some in the rear and some in the front.

I Made a set of leaf clamps at my machine shop to be able to cinch them down on the street. I only took them off when wheeling and to show up the coil sprung buggies with Jeep sheetmetal on them at the shows.

And I never bent any leafs. The tire on the opposite side smashing into the body would keep it from dropping too much.
This setup sucks on the street just like most flexy crawlers do. I am done with it..

Yes, I built this jeep from the ground up when I was 17 years old. I really miss the way it used to be.

I had more fun with it when it had just 4" of lift and 32s
Than I ever did after I built it up.

I have a nice half cab meyers top and new side panels coming soon.

I may keep my frame I have now and take it back back to stock length. The frame is fully boxed and has strip steel running the length of the bottom so I may try and utilize it.

I still plan on having the 35's but if they won't clear offer the knockdown I will sell them and go back to 33's.

I am actually very excited to get it back to a more traditional mild build.

I myself will alwayus have a rig I can go rock the most ridiculous trails with, But I have always loved the original side of things no matter how old i was or wasnt

 

Hey, Im only 25 and love the way my jeep is now. Just enough life to clear 33's and other than that, bone stock. However my co-pilot is only 6 so thats why I decided to get a little bit wider...which turned into needing a little more flex...which turned into lower gearing etc,etc,etc. Now I got a little over 5K worth of parts sitting in a garage waiting to be bolted and welded into place. Starting my first build and I am starting to understand all of the little jeep jokes ha.

My father and just picked up this 1963 CJ5 with a L-134.

 

Tompology,
What kind of top is that? I have trouble with my ledges over the door covering the top of the door and rain leaks in. Oh yeH, nice JEEP you have there!

That is my JEEP, Tompology was nice and somehow fixed my post to show the pics instead of links. The top is a Bestop. Not sure of the model or vintage. We just inherrieted the JEEP about a year ago. I know the JEEP was rebuilt/restored sometime in the 1980's.
