I have an opportunity to get a complete Scout II Dana 44 axle with the auto hubs for $265, or less without the hubs.

Will that axle be an ok swap to replace the Dana 25 in my 47? I believe it will be slightly wider than the Dana 41 in the rear but I am worried about spring perch width and if there was enough room since the 2a is so narrow. I was planning on getting the Scout axle to replace my Dana 30 in my CJ7 but I just rebuilt that.....so I got to thinking if it will work in the 47.

Anyone know or done this swap? I'd like to assume it will work given that a CJ Dana 30 is a good swap and that is about the same width. Also, can the 5.38's fit in a Dana 44....I can't remember? Thanks

The Scout II Dana 44 is going to be about 8" wider than your existing D25, so it'll have to be narrowed unless you are going to run it full width. There are also issues with the differential being in the way of where you will want to put the spring perches, sometimes even if you outboard the springs.

The search engine is your friend, here is just one thread on the subject :)

Yeah, that was kinda what I thought. I didn't think there was that much difference in the overall width though, dang.

My main concern was durability of the D25 with 35" Boggers, even though it is only a street/beach Jeep. thanks
