Does anyone know, is the rear seat cover the same as a front 60% bench seat?

I take this as a no?

I was wondering if I could buy a rear canvas seat cover to recover the seat myself. Guess I'll hafta find someone around here to do it.

I don't know - from my mental picture of the dimensions, seems very unlikely. From memory, the front seat depth is more than the back seat. In the back seat, most adults sit with their knees up, only their butts on the seat, and flat footed. The back seat has to be shallow to allow this. The front seat is deep and high enough that you can sit with your knees down and heels on the floor or feet against the kick board.

Rear seat also doesn't have the "drop" that the front seat does too. That changes the way anyone sits in it. It may not be as deep as you noted, but I don't think the fact that your knees are up is strictly because of depth of the seat.

Yeah, the earlier back seat may be different, flatter. I recall that the seat in my CJs was tilted back much more than the front seats, and the distance of the seating surface from the floor at the back was only 8 or 9 inches. Sitting in it was ok, but very different from one's posture in the front seat - you would lean back, and your knees were up.

Just eyeballing Dad's seat, I'd guess it's deeper and taller than a rear by quite a bit..

FYI, I just measured, and there are quite a bit different sparky. The only thing I could think of is finding a seamstress that could make it happen. My wife is a pro seamtsress and i am about to try and find some spare covers and junk frames and have her play around with them till she finds a way to make it work. I paid 1800 for her sewing machine, might has well try and try to get something out of it right :) she has never done anything like this before, but I need factory seats for the 55' so that is what gave me the idea

    Thanks guys. I don't have a rear seat to measure/compare to on-hand so I thought I'd ask.

I can't find canvas covers for the bench seat, only the smaller bucket seats. :(
