You might be surprised...We used to have a thread with pics of Jeeps after rollovers..One of our members worked at a dealership and posted pics of Jeeps that came in after accidents with varying rollbar setups..Turns out even a fenderwell mounted single hoop bar offers a lot of protection..

X2.....leave it on until you build the one you want....saw a guy roll last month on a gravel road , crappy tj factory bar........can't imagine what would've happened to him w/o the rollbar in place

Yeah, I wasn't "planning" on having one in my '56, not at first anyway. But I spotted a stock factory CJ5 rollbar locally on Craigslist for $40, it's sitting in my yard now. Just one of those single-hoop things that bolts onto the rear fenderwells, figure it'll be better than nothing.

i still havent figured out how to remove the bellcrank shaft.
i got the nut of easy enough by reaching through the grill with a socket/ratchet

i can get the shaft to spin.
    barely ...
    with FOUR FOOT CHEATER BAR

i am watching the breaker bar handle bend with each effort.

yes i soaked it for a couple days with oil.

    PS
the bellcrank support bracket is welded to the frame.

maybe a 4 foot 1" solid steel bar that i can position on the uppermost part (where the threads are.
put a nut over the threads to protect them.
and hit that bar with a sledge hammer?

Did you remove the clamping bolt from the bracket?

    H.

p.s.- How did you bet at the shaft nut by going trough the grill? Isn't the radiator in the way? And the grill shroud?

The last one I did was about 2 years ago, on the c101. Everything came apart easily, and assembled easily.
Loved the traffic yesterday while driving thru your town.

    yes
    i have said this before.
    and i mean it.
without this site i would have had to sell this jeep.
having all the manuals is great
but having a think tank of guys that really know these old vehicles is what
really made this possible for me.
i have done everything but rebuild the engine.
and i learned all of it here.
