gas tank vent ?

    i have a 71 cj 5 on the passenger side of the gas tank up hi there what looks like a barb for a hose there is nothing on it now what is it and what should i do with it thanks mike

    If you had a vapor recovery system originally, it would be very similar to the vapor recovery used in 1972. You can see that in the '72 FSM here http://trailforge.com/TSM/Section_04.pdf and here http://trailforge.com/TSM/Section_05.pdf

    To be more exact, you'll need to find a factory manual for the '71 model.

    If you did not have vapor recovery originally, then the vent tubes would have been plugged, and you would use a vented gas cap.

    my 71 manual says vapor rec is in two places on tank one front one rear my hole lack of better word is on the passanger side of tank . my jeep has none of the vapor rec tanks and stuff the manuals shows
