I am having a problem getting the short shift rail to properly line up on a single stick transfer case. Does the shift fork on the front output shaft go on or behind the output clutch shaft gear (42). To me it should cradle the gear and shift it, but when that is done, the fork seems to long and the slide rail dosen't fit in the hole.

    Thanks in advance

The shift fork fits into the groove in the clutch (#42). If nothing is lining up you may have the fork installed on the rail backwards. One note, the notches for the shifters do not normally line up perfectly with each other when the rails are installed correctly so don't let that throw you off.

After messin with it for awhile longer, i found i had installed the long shift rod in the wrong hole. Once i switched them around, everything went togeather nicely.
