re-arch springs?????

    does it work and does it last , will they be anymore hurt than the abuse I throw at them by re arching them .I don't know how much they have sagged but they are old and have been abused . rides nice and soft now. don't really want to BUY new srings for it.untill my bail out $ comes ..... I have 2.5 CJ7 Softride springs under my 5 . under atlot of stress at times ,ps/ frame has been reworked since this shot and it looks like this due to twisting it was fine and not bent. thanks [​IMG] [​IMG] drove out of this one [​IMG]

    All the reports I've read/heard say no, they don't last.

    I'd do it.
    have had good experiences with it.
    the last shop who just did the Bantam springs for me did an awesome job
    they took them apart, cleaned the rust and crud, re-arced to my specs, even installed new keepers around the leafs, new center bolts, painted all the leafs, etc etc.
    PM me and I'll give you the name and number of the shop I used here in Riverside.
    I pulled them out and took them to the shop.
    To me, it's the experience of the guy doing the re-arcing.

    Spring warranty on the Softrides? Let me know if you want to come down and drive Betsy. I've got a new explorer pro-comp 2-3" lift on her.

    I'll go against the grain and say that I've had two sets of springs re-arched and neither one lasted very long. One was a set of front springs for a CJ-2 and the other was a set of rears on a 1/2-ton pickup that never hauled very much weight. I was disappointed both times.

    I'm all for rebuilding and restoring stuff wherever possible, but if it were me I would replace the flat springs with new.

    hey guys- my $.02 worth- i have been having springs done for 30 years by the same boy from trailers to log trucks & have never had a problem with any of them. i will say that any time i have asked for more lift from stock he will always add a leaf for me- sometimes this causes me to need to replace u-bolts but it works.

    I have to say I agree it depends on the individual doing the work. I've had good and bad experiences with it. If it were me I'd just put new springs on and be done with it than take a chance and spending the money twice.

    my 7 springs are not shot , just need a pick me up .and just the fronts really... If I did get new then they have to break-in again ,and I like it now.thanks guys for all the feedback on this.
