Will pto from dana 20 fit dana 18?

I have been a lurking member here for a long time. I am finally in the early stages of rebuilding a '65 cj5. I plan on making an introduction and getting the pictures posted with a new thread soon as I have some reportable progress. But in the meantime, I have come across a pto winch that was coupled to a dana 20. Will this be workable with my dana 18? This would be a good time to install it as I am currently rebuilding my dana 18. I have tried the search function, but perhaps I have not used the right phrase to find an answer.

Because we all like pictures, here is one that almost applies.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The 20 pto bolts to the bottom of the case. The 18 pto bolts to the back of the case so the bolt up's are different. You can physically bolt a 20 pto unit to the 18 case as the bolt patterns are the same on the bottom (Pan bolt up area) but the gearing/tooth counts are different. If you wanted to go to the worse low range of the 20 (put the 20 gears in the 18 case) then the 20 pto unit would work.

Yup. Need a pto driven gear, model 20, from an Early Bronco T-shift transfer case with the 2.46-1 low range. The J-shift version uses a different gear. Harder than hen's teeth to find. Have a customer that's been looking for one for 5 years. Might get lucky though.

Thanks for the information. I knew that the 18 had a rear pto takeoff. I was hoping that the 20 gears would match. I will pass on this one and continue looking for a dana 18 pto drive. If anyone is interested, I can pass on the ad for the dana 20 setup.
