Exhaust question

Here in MA, the emissions check goes for 10 or 15 years... something like that. I'm not sure if there is a visual inspection; there is a tailpipe emissions check though. After that, it's a safety inspection only. The Jeeps only get inspected for wipers, lights, brakes, holes in the floor, etc.

California has led the way with emission laws but many states and municipalities are requiring smog inspections, Bernalio county in NM requires emissions testing as well as some communities in AZ.

I don't envy you bringing a vintage vehicle back that has been stripped of emission devices, I would recommend you get a good service manual for your specific year vehicle. I located one on an on line auction for around $25 shipped and have used it many times.
