My first AMC build. Bought a 401 for the CJ5. The first was junk, but I got lucky on the 2nd. Scored it for $350, just outside the Michigan Silver Lake Dunes. The first thing I can say its thats its dam expensive compared to chevy to rebuild. All in all, $1500 for a rebuilt motor. Thats machining, parts, and my labor. Looking good,, I like that shade of green, very similar to the Mopar green on chrysler muscle cars.
what kind of clutch are you backing it up with? I went with a Centerforce 2 on my V-8 swap.

 

It turned out Hulk green. When I get paid... I was hoping for a centerforce. I wasn't going to swap until it gets a few degrees warmer in MI, so I've got some time. How do you like yours?

How close is the water pump pulley to the crank pulley? Almost touching?
