Ok, I got my first AMC 401, and I'm ready to put it all back together with new parts. I am getting ready to hang the rods on the pistons, and I have a question. On Chevy, there is a certain way rod pairs face each other on the crank. The inner flange is slightly larger where they meet on the crank than the flange that faces outward. Is there such a concept on AMC? As I look at the rods, both sides of the rods seem eqaully machined...

Do you have a FSM that covers the 401? Any Jeep FSM from '71 on should cover this. RTFM.

"Connecting rods and caps are stamped with the number of the cylinder to which they were assembled."

"Cylinder number outboard, squirt hole inboard."

Notch in the piston toward the front.
