    89diesel Broken!!!...Again

I have an 87 Renix fi 4.0 out of an XJ that I want to switch over to a carb system to install in my CJ. I know this is backwards to most, but,(1) I'm too old to learn fuel injection. (2) I've found fi to be finicky enough in a new vehicle, let alone a 20 yr old motor/computer/sensors/wiring etc. (3) I wheel (literally) 80 miles from nowhere. I can mickeymouse most things to get home, NOT computers though.

So, what do I need to convert this thing? Can I use the intake and exhaust manifolds and just build an adapter for a carb? What dizzy do I need? Is the camshaft compatible? (I've had an experience in the past where I found Ford 300's use different ones from fi to carb)

Not sure on the cam. I think the XJ head was the same standard low port configuration so you can bolt a 258 carbed intake to it. I think you'll have to use the distributor from a 258/232 carb set-up. I know some people still swear by the old breaker point distributors because of their simplicity.

I should say that I meant the RENIX head was the same low profile as the 258/232. The MPFI 4.0 head was the high port version.
