ok, this is more of a rant here...

 a couple years ago, i was posting that my p/s box broke. all 3 of the mounting bolts on it broke off. i could not find another box ANYWHERE!
 so, after a year of looking and the jeep being inoperable, i found one on a burned up 73. i went and pulled the box off it. once i got it installed on mine, my lines didn't match up to the p/s pump. GO FIGURE, so i picked up a few different pressure lines at the local parts store, got the one that fit and finally cj5 was back alive!
 well, i used the jeep a couple times then i'm hearing a funny sound while it's running. well of course, that is the sound of the p/s pump whining, next thing i know, the fluid is squirting out of the cap as it is boiling over. nice! so i go down to the local parts store, pick up the pump for my 73 304 and looks the same and assume it's the same. they don't come with a pulley by the way, i need to reuse mine. whatever, i pull it off and get ready to press the pulley on and guess what...give up? YES, the shafts on the two pumps ARE different (original pump has larger diameter all smooth shaft, new pump has smaller diameter shaft and a notch/key sticking out). so my pulley will not work, oh, and i already mentioned that NO parts store sells the pulley for this pump. so here i am, stuck with a bunch of p/s parts, and no p/s.

truth is, i am scared that even if i do get it all together and operating, i feel that this weak-*** p/s system is going to crap out in the same or different spot again...just what i'm assuming since that is all i've been going through.

right now where i stand, i have manual steering. i'm sure i'll be struggling to steer large tires being binded up against rocks. i'm damn near the point of getting ****ed off enough to just to a tsc and get some parts to just make a full hydraulic steering and not worry about these stupid issues. i have considered the hydraulic assist, and am totally against it as it still uses the p/s parts.

DOES ANYONE HAVE P/S ISSUES LIKE THIS?

I was running into issues with my ps swap, but PSC had all the parts I needed, including a pump & adapter to mount it to my ford bracket, as well as the pully and lines.

you did not ask ,,but full hydro will get you in all kinds of trouble driving around town... forget the freeway. i did the saginaw 4 bolt box with chevy pump.. been bound up real bad but it still turns fine and has NEVER broke,,, ever in 14 +years , no p/s cooler either.. way cheaper too your running 35's it should be fine. you can rebuild the pump there should be a kit for that... maybe a problem with the box?
