    Ahoya!

Just when I thought I'd resolved all leaks, a new one has sprung up. It's located on the base of the HEI dizzy I installed a few months ago. I have never had a leak in this location and it is driving me wild.

I am 12000 miles in on a reman 258, did the MC2100 conversion w/'83 intake, HEI conversion, and finally installed a tach. Since completion, I've changed my driving style, shifting at 2500 rpm. Would this have anything to do with the new leak?

Should this be filed under minor annoyance, cause for concern, or congrats a new leak.

make sure there is a gasket installed on the distributor, and you have a good pcv valve and it is hooked up correctly.

From the location of the oil it doesn't seem as if the oil is coming from between the distributor and engine because the oil is on top of the distributor body. Could the oil be coming from the hold down bolt. How about some #2 Permatex on the bolt threads and see if that eliminates the leak.

May be the bolt or may be the O-ring on the distributor. Welcome to the world of Jeep.

When I switched to an HEI in my 72 with a258 I had a problem with it seeping oil between the distributor and the block that was being caused by the distributor shaft bottoming out in the oil pump before the distributor housing could seal against the distributor gasket, I removed about .020 in. from the spacer that goes between the distributor housing and the distributor gear however mine was just seepign between the distributor and the block yours is getting oil on top of the distributor clamp flange.

Thanks for the heads up. There wasn't a gasket, nor O ring included with the dizzy, I'll get one. Instead of permatex, I'll try some super 300 sealer on the threads.

    Almost leak free, again!R)
