4x4 shift diagram

    what is the shift diagram for a standard transfer case on a 1976 cj5. Is all the forward 4 high or low. Thanks!

    If it's a Dana 20, all the way forward is 4 hi. Unless it's twin sticked like mine, then both forward is 4 lo.

    For a '73, all the way forward is 4WD high. All the way back is 4WD low - when you shift into 4 low, the shift knob will touch the top of the tool box.

    The reason I did it was due to very sloppy shift linkage. This fixed it completely. I have not removed the detent pills, but somehow have 2lo.

    I did it and removed the detents. I think you can get rear wheel drive low with the detents in. You just can't get front wheel only. I agree with you, a great mod.
