:D I talked to the shop this morning, i guess they had some trouble fitting the rear brakes to the new axle housing, so it seems that its more of an issue of the brakes not releasing properly, which would explain the air in the brake lines. anyway, rather than paying 800 bucks to tow it back to denver, they opted to have it looked at here in glenwood springs at stage west, which btw, seems to be a superior shop. Alls well that ends well, right?

As long as it's on their dime (which was previously your dime ;) )

It's good to hear that they are going to stand behind their work. And have it fixed by a better shop to boot! :)
Let us know the final verdict.

well, the hits keep coming, scratch the maladjusted brake theory, upon inspection by shop #2, it was discovered that the wrong model powr-lok was installed. It was for a tapered axle, not a flanged one. this caused the axle shafts to shift, rendering it undrivable. Shop #1 has now come up to glenwood springs with a flatbed trailer, and brought my jeep back to denver to install the right one. They are of course doing this all at no extra charge, accept for my havingv to return to denver and drive the thing back up to glenwood springs (a distance of 180 miles). Hopefully by this weekend i'll have it back, as it is my daily driver. I'd love to have this thing for more than a couple days this time, i've had it a month and haven't been able to enjoy it :?
