I know this is going to sound silly, but I cannot for the life of me get my front wheels off. While waiting for my wiring harness to arrive in the mail, I decided I would check the brakes. Got the front end up on jack stands and loosened the lugs, went to pull the tire off, and it seems I cannot get it past the 4 wheel drive lockouts. The PO put some rather nice 33" BFG ATs on my 61, but now I cannot get them off, it seems there is about 1/8" of difference between the lockouts and the inner diameter of my wheel.

Anyone else come across a situation like this? How hard is it to remove the lockouts and get them back on again?

    Thanks in Advance!

Do you have a pic of it? Sort of had the same problem on my 71'. The bolt "keepers" on the lock out hubs were not bent down and flattened enough to get the wheel off. I flattened them out and it came off.
What type of locking hubs do you have? I have Warn hubs and they are pretty easy to dis assemble and re assemble.

I will get pics of it soon as I get home, bout another hour from now, and post them up. Its not the bolt "keepers" as you put it I believe, it is the actual houseing of the lockout dial, it sits about an 1/8" wider than the post the tire goes onto.

wheels should come off, soak them with some PB blaster, might have to pull your lockout hub, guessing that's the little lip. but after wheel is off you can file it down a little so wheel goes off and on ok.

:iagree: It should slide over the lock-out. If not file it down so it will.
