I thought I would share this information with you guys. The old Meyers / Orville steel hardtops(at least the ones I have) used door and rear hatch handles made by Bauer Products. Bauer is still in business http://www.bauerproducts.com/index.htm and I was able to give them the number on my latches (BPxxx) and order new keys. You can also order new latches. Hope this helps out.

When my dad was in the camper shell manufacturing business he kept a 1-gallon coffee can full of spare keys. They only made about a dozen different variations. You should have seen how surprised guys would be when they came by asking him how to order a spare key and he'd read the number on their handle and go get a set out of the coffee can. K-127 was the most common one as I recall. Just a reminder that locks only keep honest people out. On a similar note, ever drive around a residential area with your garage door opener and see how many people's garages you can open? Kinda scary when you think about it.

standing in my garage at the old house one day, surrounded by my tools, motorcycles, project truck, and interior door to my house and the garage door opened on it's own. I closed it and it opened about an hour later on it's own... that's when I disconnected both of my garage door openers

The 3 keys I ordered arrived today and they all worked perfectly! Pretty cool that I have a 29 year old hardtop and through a couple of e-mails I now have the keys for it!! Bauer Products gets a thumbs up from me!

I recently ordered a new ignition switch from 4wd.
When I received it, it was the same key as the old one (could have also been a replacement).

I guess its up to us to have them changed?
    Kinda scary.

KMan, that is cool that you were able to get new keys, I would have never expected that.

Travel trailer outside storage locks are almost all keyed alike. Same key would probably open the old door handles on many of the steel tops. Handy when you loose a key, not so swell when your trying to secure something.

Pretty cool though to find an old manufacturer like that still in business and the not so big that they are still willing to help out the little guy.
