Need a measurement please

    Can I get the measurement from the front vertical part of the door opening (dash) to the hole in the tub rail where the upright post for a soft top sits in? This is the post the door latches against. I'm thinking it's different than on my'56. I got a top and w/s frame off a '77 and the donor is a ways away and I can't get there to measure it. TIA

    on my 66 cj6 it's 31" from dash to center of hole. My understanding is that should be the same from 55 to 75

    Uhhhhhhhh:oops: guess I outta clarify it a bit. I need it (measurement) from a 76 + tub, the top I 'm trying to graft on to my '56 came off a '77, hence the w/s frame swap. It "seems" the door post is set farther back, although I haven't been able to dedicate much time to it lately. Firewood is time consuming work:rofl: Thanks for the input so far.

    Tape measure is all lubed and ready to go, drill bit is new, all I need to know is where to put the hole.............................

    On my '83 CJ5 it measures 34.75" from the dash to the center of the hole for the verticle support rod. The rod is offset from the tab that sits in the hole.I took the rod over to the tub and I'll be damned that I can't remember if the rod goes in front of or behind the hole...what model top are you putting on it?
