I have a 52 M38A1 and would like to put a 12v fuel guage sender in my bigger A1 tank. Any ideas? Also looking for ohm readings for ordering the right fuel gauge. I have owned my jeep for 12 years and just have never found a need for one but older and more picky would like a workable guage. I don't have the old sender it was just capped off. What do I need and where to buy???

    thanks in advance

I have been looking for this type of info for a while. I need to put a fuel guage in an 80's tank that will work with a 56 speedo. I would love to see a chart of the Ohm readings and voltage for the CJ series jeeps.

If you can find any 12V sender that will fit in the top of the tank, you can modify the float arm to work with the tank you have. The deeper the tank, the longer the float arm must be. Measure the distance to the bottom of the tank, and figure out how much longer the float arm will need to be, either with trigonometry or with a helper and tape measure. The float arms are typically a piece of steel wire, with a bend in the end to hold the float. You can extend the wire with a length of brass or steel tube. Hobby shops with model trains carry many sizes of thin-wall brass tubing. I would solder the sleeve in place.
