I've got a 3 speed trans. and transfercase, but I don't know what they are. There are numbers on both. Is there some information on what these numbers mean? Thanks for the help,

Dude, you got to give us more info than that. We need picts, years, etc. At a minumum we need the numbers of the cases. But my guess is you have a D18 transfer case due to the fact you posted in the "early cj" forum.

You might try Novac Adapters. They have a good knowledge abase and lots of picts.

Sorry about the confusion, the only number I found on the transmission is1:21.72. It is a 3 speed. The transfer case, above the tail shaft a large number 6, under this is, 618-18-44. On the rear of the case is DANA, a large 4 and k20x2. There is also a tag 0059-97 under this is 5351087. The case is a single lever. The jeep is a 56 Willys CJ5, how much of it is from 56 is unknown. Thanks

Is the rear driveshaft centered, or offset?

Assuming its stock, the tranny should be a T90 and the transfer case should be a Dana 18. The transfercase will have the rear driveshaft offset to the passanger side. Google T90 and you will get information. Same for the Dana 18.
