    Ok.
    225
Hei. rebuilt carb, plugs wires, Runs great..
But, If i miss the first start in the morning it is very tough to start.
Acts like it wants to catch but then kinda spins past it.
Choke doesnt seem to do anything
sometimes has a big all cylinders miss like it has zero gas of no juice

when it does finally start it like there was nothing wrong in the first place.

    Ive been thinking
    maybe fuel air mix
    not enough advance,

actually might start better with teh vacume advance unhooked

Check rubber fuel lines. Or maybe fuel pump is wearing out. Either will make it difficult for engine to get sufficient fuel at cranking speeds, but once running will give enough fuel. If it runs like crap when it warms up I'd say your carb is adjusted too lean. But if it's only a problem when starting I'd say fuel delivery is more likely than fuel-air ratio.

Is your air cleaner clogged? That can cause hard starting, too.

Sounds like no accelerator pump.. look down inside carb and pump throttle. Should get two good squirts of fuel each time you throttle it.

This sounds a lot like what happened to me last year - 225, hei, rebuilt carb, runs great, blah, blah, blah. And hard to start.

I messed around with the fuel system, the distributer, and changed the ignition switch before I eventually found that the main engine wiring harness electrical connector was loose. Near the pass side valve cover.

    Check it out.
