Sounds like a neat idea, but are the frame widths similiar??? I have seen someone try to do something similar on Pirate and it looked awful. Used a Blazer frame though. Why not just lengthen the CJ frame in the same areas and add a body mount??? I have thought many times about simply adding about a foot of frame on both ends and using holbrook springs and mount them in the stock spring mount locations and then just stretch it out both front and back around 6 inches. A bit hard to do when it's my daily driver though:)

Good luck anyway and post pics when you figure out how.

A guy at work put a CJ-7 on a shortened waggy frame. Even left it stock wheel base. He started from scratch and built a Jeep from parts he slowly acquired as he had time and money. It came out real nice. Only way you can tell it's a waggy frame without knowing what to look for is the frame is much beefier than a CJ frame. Jeep works very well on the trails and it's his daily driver and drives nice too.

Thats why i decided to go with the wagoneer frame much beefier and longer alraedy than the cj5 . I want have to reinforce or box or extend frame.

    Are they the same widths???

I have no idea if they are or not. But, if they aren't, wouldn't it be a pain in the arse to change all the body mounts??? I guess you could narrow the frame, but then the spring hangers would be off to the axles.

Go to Pirate and search CJ 5.5. It's not that particular Jeep, but this guy has a pic of his "creation".

That's really nicely done. Great proportions, looks factory. Mild on the paint/accessories...very very nice.

Yes, they are different widths. Look at the "Scrambloneer" under the corners of the grille. You can see that the frame extends further than the corners of the grille.

Moving the body mounts wouldn't be that much trouble - mostly new hat channel locations. Lengthening the body would be more work than mounting.

It would look ok though, as long as the rear frame corners did not stick out under the rear corners of the body. Plenty of Waggy axles have gone under CJs.

I got to bend some new channels for the extension as well. I'm going saturday to pull body off the wagoneer frame I will be using. Hopefully we will get that done and at least pull the motor/trans ,transfer and put in new frame. Very Slow Build.

( That was fun) My uncle had his J10 pulling the body and cousn with Honda 4x4 wheeler yanking the frame. Yeah were Rednecks but it worked. I will have alot of cleaning on the frame to do but will be worth it. I will post some pics later

Here are some pics .Couple of pics are of the waggie frame . Couple of the tire next to the flat black paint (I like it). One is my daughter driving the Jeep . She cried so hard when we had to go back inside. She is getting a Jeep rubicon power wheels for her birthday on December 1st. Last pic is of a 67 Jeepster my buddy is buying for 500.00.

Man it always breaks my heart to see you southern and western guys cutting into a rust-free Jeep. :(

But nice going on your project, it sounds cool. If it comes out as nice as that guy's Scramblineer you'll have something nice. Any thoughts on what to do about a top?

As I understand the previous posts, the donor CJ already had the comp cut, so no new cutting.

    I like the Jeepster.

The NP case from the Wagoneer should have a tag. Likely it's a 229, since most with automatics came with a full-time case of some sort. All the manual transmission Wagons/J-10s and all the J-20s after 1980 got the 208.

Must be an old Chevy truck wheel?
