I have a cracked leaf in one of my rear spring packs. The springs are old anyway so I will get new springs instead of messing with the old ones.

During my search I found there is a difference in leaf springs between 1968 and 1969. I ask because I don't really know what year my springs are even though I call it a 1966. I have all sorts of parts on this, you guys know what I mean. Anyway, I did a quick measurement of the springs and they were about 47 inches along the arch.

I also have the springs over the axles and was told the springs are stock. I will get some pics up of them later today.

What is the difference in leaf springs after 1968? Thanks.

The length and width did not change, but the factory did use several different leaf counts, leaf thicknesses, spring rates and heights. Good luck finding an exact replacement, or even determining a direct replacement by year or model.

If you want to replace what you have, the best route IMO is to buy a pair of replacement springs that are as close a match to what you have as possible. Your springs may be stock, but the factory never mounted them over the axles. That was done by a PO (previous owner).

I know the springs were mounted below the axle. Nothing on my Jeep is factory...R)

The springs on my Jeep right now are 47" long x 1.75" wide. Could these be from a Willys Wagon or Pickup?

4wd hardware i think lists the springs as a 68 69 split. they also say the straight 6 should be in the 69 if i remember seeing correctly. part of the reason havent gotten anything for my 68 from them...

Some places list a different kit for 71-up, but thats because the rear axle got bigger tubes in 71 requiring different u bolts..
