    Hey all,
My T18 w/ warn OD grinds loudy going into first and reverse. Sometimes it is a challenge to find gears (2nd-4th) when driving. I checked the fluid and it is full and clean. If I turn the engine off, there is no issue shifing into any gear. Also, while in reverse, I can have the clutch depressed fully and the jeep will move backwards.

I want to make sure I understand the 1/2"-1" free play with the clutch. This is free movement from a fully depressed clutch pedal to when the clutch first engage and the jeep begins to move. Correct?

This is a hydraulic clutch too, but there isn't a simple nut to turn to adjust it. The link eyebolt is threaded, so I need to disconnect the linkage. I can't get it to bolt back up. Should I vent the hydro fluid resevoir? What do I need to do with the fluid once that is done?

I have adjusted the linkage to have about 1/4" now and will probably adjust it further if I understand this correctly.

    thanks

I read through a couple threads on here about T18 and grinding and double clutching, going from 2nd to first etc. I think it is the linkage.

The free play should be from a fully released clutch till it starts to disengage. Sounds like you are not fully disengaging the clutch. With the hydraulic clutch be sure you are getting enough travel from the cylinder to fully release the clutch.

I've also found if you air in the lines you won't get the full travel.
